2010 CAMARO Convertible

A year
ago, Chevrolet unveiled the Camaro Coupe Concept to rave
reviews at the 2006
North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It was
the hit of the NAIAS, and it led to the announcement that
Chevrolet will resume Camaro production with the Coupe for
the 2010 model year.
Chevy's goal with its NAIAS presence this year?
Top
last year's announcement.
One
look at this Convertible and it's clear, the Bow-Tie folks
hit that target, dead center.
The
2010 Camaro Convertible concept vehicle was shown for the
first time at "GM Style" in Detroit on Saturday night Jan
6th. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel hosted the event which showcased
the Camaro Convertible and a number of other General Motors
products with a theme of Hollywood meets GM vehicles. Ten
minutes of "Red Carpet Interviews" by MC, Jimmy Kimmel,
talking with celebs like Carmen Electra, Christian Slater,
Nick Cannon, Nick Latchey and Mario Lopez can be viewed by
clicking here. Also
available is video of the full, one-hour GM Style event.

Both show video of the Camaro Convertible.

The Convertible will be
on display at the Detroit Auto Show starting with a press
preview on Jan. 7th, followed by the show's public opening
on Jan 13th. In the same manner that the original Camaro
concept raised the pulse of enthusiasts everywhere, the new
Camaro Convertible Concept will continue to represent the
direction of Chevy's vehicle line up - expressive style,
spirited performance and great value
From
its Hugger Orange Pearl tri-coat base color to the twin,
gunmetal gray sport stripes, to the classic
long-hood-short-deck proportion, to it's "egg-crate" grill
to its four auxiliary gauges located near the shifter, the
Camaro Convertible Concept celebrates Camaro's heritage in a
contemporary way. Although this is a show car and not the
actual production vehicle, it was designed to represent the
production model that will follow within a year of the
Camaro Coupe production. As we've said many times on the
Camaro Homepage, the exterior of these concepts is very much
characteristic of what the production cars will be. Minor
changes might be made, but, basically, what you see here is
what you'll get in 2010 if you order a Convertible.
Chevrolet
General Manager, Ed Peper, sent a letter to all Chevrolet
dealers discussing the Convertible Concept. At the end of it
he said, "The Camaro has touched many lives with nearly 4.8
million being produced over 30 years. The love and lore of
Camaro remains strong. The Camaro concepts redefine the
Camaro for both existing and new generations of fans in a
contemporary way with responsive performance and modern
technology."
Here
at Camaro Homepage, we think Mr. Peper has got the right
idea.
We'll
have more on the Camaro Convertible Concept once "the boss",
Tom Henry, returns from the Detroit Auto Show with his own,
first-hand impression of the car. Until then, you get these
GM images and...we just have to tell you...we're totally
stoked by the Hugger Orange with gray stripes. We've seen
the Coupe in Silver and Red but this Convertible in Orange
is just flat stunning!
